Alex is starting to draw the boundary between the real and the imaginary, between fantasy and harsh reality. The first existential crisis of our life, when you start questioning the Three Wise Men and to wonder why Santa Claus is in every corner and every mall.

I will never forget his face when he saw Cinderella at Disneyworld, that moment of total happiness, absolute fascination and perfect illusion, believing beyond a shadow of a doubt that this blonde had just left a fairytale to waved at him, personally and with big smiles, I do not think it´s humanly possible to be
happier than my son was at that time (although I must say when I had a beer with Baryshnikov and he gave a kiss goodbye, my happiness reached similar levels).

But my Cossack begins to doubt, to fish for answers he does not want to hear but he cannot stop asking. Just a few months his life was full of elves, fairies, bakugans and Disney Princess, populating the fertile soil of his imagination. This Christmas a cruel child planted the seed of doubt.

- Mom, you know what Raaz said?. That Santa does not exist!

- He  does not bring gifts to those who don´t believe in him

- That´s what I told him!. I do believe, Mommy

But he kept asking questions, wondering how Santa works his magic. And thanks to the magic and good friends when we returned home all after Christmas dinner, there were all our presents under the tree, Santa had come while we were out and had even drunk the shot of whiskey that we left to warm him up!. We saved the Christmas magic but I think next year will be more complicated.

Now, Alex is beginning to wonder if what you see in the movies is real or just a movie, or is "real but only in the movie, right Mommy?" as if the film was that parallel reality we imagined for children, that
fantasy world that we can access just by crossing the screen. And worse,  he´s making his sister doubt, and that cannot be, I have to convert Alex into the keeper of the flame of imagination, so my princess and then Nico will still believe in Santa for many years, and in Cinderella and the magic.

- Fairies do not really exist, Katie - Alex told his sister the other day feeling very old
- What?. You see, now somewhere a poor fairy is dying - I answered
- I do believe!!! - shouted Katie

A few days later Alex confessed while going to bed:

- Do you know Mommy?. I think maybe there are no fairies but I do not want any of them to die any so I do believe in fairies

You have to convince Alex that the world is more beautiful because of a flower that you cannot see and that magic is essential to face this life. My children finding us was magic, I wish we never stopped believing in magic, look forever at the world with the illusion with which my son looked at Cinderella.
